- The Real McCoy Comments:
This is a speech that nobody wants
to make - the speech where you announce to employees that,
despite all management's best efforts, either the company
is going to close or new, less favourable, work practices
are being forced upon everybody.
I'm not going to pretend to you that this is an easy announcement
to make. It's difficult! But hopefully, this little speech
of mine will make things easier for you.
What I have done for you here is used
a story that has been adapted from the proceedings of the
U.S. Naval Institute to explain that no matter how convinced
everybody is that the company is heading in the right direction
and however much they believe that that... ' if we just hang
on in here we might ride out the stormy adverse market conditions'
... the truth that all leaders, like you, eventually have
to face up to is that reality won't go away ... no matter
who tells it to.
