say to someone who is retiring after many years working
in a company. Inevitably, the temptation is to crack
a few jokes or, worse still, to mumble a few words about
him being a 'tough but fair taskmaster'. You know the
kind of thing I mean? Believe me, retirement speeches,
are not easy to get right. But will you keep in mind
that no matter how sad, or how happy, a person is about
his/her pending retirement ... it's the end of an important
era in their life. It's always sad to leave friends
