For years I used to work as the Human Resource Manager
in a bank. And on regular occasions all the employees
used to gather together in the canteen to express their
appreciation of, and say goodbye to, a colleague who
was retiring. And over the years, the one thing that
always struck me was that, invariably, the person who
was making the farewell speech conveyed the message
... 'we'll miss you or ... 'we won't forget you!' And
somewhere in the back of my mind I always thought that
true friendship among work colleagues is a two-way process.
It's not just a matter of saying 'we won't forget you'
but, hopefully... 'you won't forget us either'. This
little speech encapsulates both of these concepts.
